Repair Guide for Saab 900 Turbo: Fixing a Faulty Fuel Distributor

About This Guide

This guide will walk you through the steps to fix a faulty fuel distributor, a less typical problem found in the classic Saab 900 Turbo.

Required Tools

Procedure

Step 1: Safety First

Before you begin, make sure the vehicle is switched off and parked on a level surface. Use parking brake for added safety.

Step 2: Location of Fuel Distributor

The fuel distributor is usually located on top of the fuel injection pump. Consult your vehicle's manual if you can't find it.

Step 3: Removing the Fuel Lines

Identify the fuel inlet and return lines connected to the distributor. Remove these using your socket set.

Step 4: Removing the Fuel Distributor

Using your socket set, remove the screws holding the fuel distributor in place then carefully lift the distributor out of the vehicle.

Step 5: Cleaning the Area

Before installing the new distributor, clean the area with a rag to ensure no debris interferes with the new part.

Step 6: Installing the New Distributor

Place the new distributor into position, replace the screws and reconnect the fuel lines.

Step 7: Checking the System

Turn on the ignition without starting the engine to allow the fuel system to pressurize. Check for any leaks. If there are no leaks, start the vehicle and let it idle for a few minutes while checking the function of your new fuel distributor.

Note: If you are not comfortable performing this repair yourself, always consult with a professional mechanic.
